As a member, you have the right to:
Attend and vote at Annual and Special General Meetings
Nominate candidates for the Committee and stand for election (subject to eligibility)
Submit motions for consideration at General Meetings
Request access to Association information
Participate in community consultation and engagement
Membership also carries responsibilities. Members are expected to:
Act respectfully and in good faith
Support the purposes of the Association
Help foster a positive, inclusive community culture
Engage constructively, even when views differ

The Association is governed by an elected Committee that operates under:
The Constitution
The Incorporated Societies Act 2022
Approved governance and financial policies
Key points to understand:The Committee makes decisions collectively, not individually
All financial and contractual authority is strictly controlled
Conflicts of interest must be declared and managed transparently
Minutes are kept to record discussion, decisions, and voting
Major decisions - including elections, constitutional changes, and member-initiated motions - are made by members at General Meetings. -
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Held once each year
Elects the Committee
Receives reports on finances, activities, and governance
Considers member motions
Special General Meetings (SGMs)Called when significant or urgent decisions are required
Business is limited to the matters listed in the notice
Committee MeetingsHeld regularly throughout the year
Minutes are made available to members

Members can participate in decision-making by:
Attending meetings in person or online (where offered)
Voting on motions and elections
Using proxy voting where permitted under the Constitution
Clear instructions are always provided ahead of meetings so members understand what is being decided and how to participate.

The Association manages several important community facilities on behalf of members.
Key principles you should know:
Facilities are community assets, not private spaces
Use is governed by approved Terms & Conditions and policies
Health and safety obligations apply to all users
Access and use can be reviewed if concerns arise
All hire arrangements, community leases, and usage rules are designed to ensure fair access, safety, and long-term sustainability. -
The Association operates on a not-for-profit basis.
What this means for members:
Funds can only be used for Association purposes
No member or officer may personally profit
Financial reports are prepared annually and presented to members
Reserves are held to protect the Association and community assets
Spending is governed by strict authorisation and policy controls
Transparency around finances is a core governance commitment. -
Many Association activities rely on volunteers.
Important points:
Volunteers support the Committee but do not act independently
All volunteers operate within approved roles and boundaries
Health and safety responsibilities apply to everyone
Reimbursements (where applicable) are strictly controlled and lawful
