Herald Island Boating Club

Today’s club has more than 100 members, including families. Our vessels range from fast modern powerboats to racing and cruising yachts. Herald Island is a wonderfully protected anchorage, and on an outgoing tide and favourable breeze it is a day’s sail to Aotea/Great Barrier Island, Kawau Island and the Coromandel. Waiheke Island is only half a day’s sail away. The club committee maintains an excellent relationship with the Auckland Harbourmaster and the Police Maritime Unit.

The club is proud to be part of the wonderful Herald Island community!

Contact: Mike Walker 021 165 2871

The club committee actively looks after both the club and community wharves, hosting club nights and helping new members to learn the joys of boating and boat ownership.

The club also publishes a regular newsletter, the Porthole, which includes club events and notices, the racing schedule, articles of nautical interest and stories of club member’s sailing adventures. Today the club has an active membership with vessels ranging from modern powerboats to light and heavy displacement keelers.

Library Group

Through concern of losing the Old Fire Station the idea of a community library was born. A group of locals banded together and started it up. This idea was well received by the community, books and offers of help kept rolling in. Sure enough within a month, their goal was achieved and we still reap the rewards today. We benefit so much from having a wonderful library in our midst. Run by ‘The Community for the Community!’.

Should you have any queries or offers of help please contact:

Etta Gillon 021 146 6691 or click the button to email us.
